Professor Agostino from the University of Genoa, Italy came to visit
On July 8, 2024, the YM Tech team at the Smart Port Research Institute, NingboTech University, hosted Professor Agostino G. Bruzzone from the University of Genoa, Italy, along with Jiao Yajuan, Deputy Director of the China-CEEC Innovation Cooperation Research Center. Professor Agostino is renowned for his long-term work in simulation applications for industrial scenarios, the development of new methodologies, and intelligent system integration technologies
Yang Haisheng, head of the YM Tech team and Dean of the Smart Port Research Institute (hereafter referred to as “the Institute”), warmly welcomed Professor Agostino and introduced the attendees and the newly established Institute.
YM Tech’s CTO, Liang Haiyu, provided an overview of the development of automated container and bulk cargo terminals in China. He also shared insights on the overall architecture of smart ports, intelligent operations and maintenance centers, simulation platforms, energy management systems, and system integration services, highlighting key industry trends and development directions.
Following this, Professor Agostino introduced the University of Genoa and the research work conducted by his team. He elaborated on his team’s extensive experience in simulation technology, focusing on the development and application of advanced simulation techniques to solve complex system issues, particularly in port and logistics sectors. His team’s work includes optimizing cargo handling and vessel scheduling to improve port operations, analyzing and optimizing logistics networks to reduce transport costs and enhance service levels, assessing the environmental impact of port and logistics activities, and providing training environments for port operators.
Both sides expressed their willingness for further exchanges and cooperation, discussing potential collaboration in port simulation, jointly exploring port markets, academic exchanges, student training, and other areas of mutual interest.
